Suggest an upsize if in doubt

The fabric is a little heavier than I expected. My wife really likes the ribbing and it works well out or tucked in dress pants. Based upon the sizing chart I ordered a medium as my chest was in the middle of the range and my waist was bang on. If this was a 100% cotton shirt it would be returned because though my chest dimensions suggest medium I think it fits tight and I wouldn’t take a chance on shrinkage during wash.. Because the fabric has stretch I can make it work and I want to wrinkle resistant which this is and 100% cotton would not be. Would be great for someone looking for a close fit but in summer might be a bit too warm. Also sleeves are short and end above my wrist bones. My arms are normal length for my size - 33” was about right for me when I wore suits and wanted the cuff to show by a 1/2”. This sleeve doesn’t show below my sport jacket. A difficult review regarding a recommendation because I think it comes down to the sizing. If I was to order this shirt again I would likely go large and then I might well love it - I just don’t know whether an upsize would then end up being a little too loose.
